If there is no chance in hell you are going to turn spontaneously into a gym rat, we suggest starting with smaller changes. Try to increase the amount of natural movement. Opt out of using your car and choose to walk to and from your work on foot instead. The same goes for your trips to get groceries or to the drugstore. If the distance is too long and your clothing allows you, try riding a bicycle. It will both promote your health and prevent the additional pollution of the environment. Take steps instead of the elevator if you can. Sure, it will take more time, but the results will be worth it. Go for a walk in the evening. Grabbing your friend and taking a stroll together is a beneficial alternative to crashing a bar or lounging on your couch.

  1. Reconsider Your Diet

Open your fridge and take a good look at what’s inside. Get rid of the foods high in sugar as well as items which have no actual nutrients. The same goes for junk food and prepackaged meals. You might love how easy and tasty mac’n’cheese is, but it is completely bereft of any beneficial elements. Stock on fruit and vegetables instead. Go for lean poultry if you are not a vegetarian and make sure to buy some cold-water fish like salmon or tuna.

Unfortunately, many people living in our day and age have forgotten how to relax properly. Contrary to the popular opinion, letting all of the stress pile up and then going for a couple of glasses of wine or bottles of beer is not an adequate method of relaxation. Make sure to schedule some “me” time. Read a nice book or travel to a new place. Take up a new hobby or sign up for a new class. Treat yourself and go shopping or pamper yourself and visit Bon-Bon salon and spa.
